J.W., also known as Bill,
Luitwieler has had a lifelong interest in art. As a kid, he dreamed of and
drew cars, wishing someday to be a car designer. He excelled in the art
classes offered at his high school. Then, reality set in and he ended up
going to work to make a living.
Bill tried oil painting with a kit about
twenty-five years ago. He enjoyed mixing the colors and working with that.
Then, he put it aside when his first child was born. It was not until
recently that Bill rekindled his art interests again.
Bill was inspired by a friend and artist Jackie
Bowker, who now resides in Grants
Pass. He watched her as she
blossomed into an accomplished artist. About three years ago, Bill decided
he should get back into painting. He is self taught and enjoys the
association art demonstrations which he attends as often as his work
schedule allows.
Currently, he paints with acrylics and sometimes uses them as watercolors.
Landscapes are his first love, but he is fascinated with architectural
pieces and occasionally enjoys floral painting as well. He is inspired by
the coasts of Oregon and California. A commission from the Wild Coyote
Winery in Paso Robles is his latest focus.
Bill has sold several works and is currently planning to be represented by
the Visions Gallery in Morro
Bay. As an active member of the Associated
Artists of the Inland Empire, he received four ribbons in the 2005 AAie Fall
Art Show.
