JUSTINE LIMPUS PARISH

DYNAMIC FIGURE GESTURE

“DYNAMIC FIGURE GESTURE”

Justine Limpus Parish: illustrator, designer, and educator, teaches Fashion Model Drawing at Otis Art Institute School of Fashion Design in downtown Los Angeles.  She also teaches a monthly Gesture Figure Drawing Workshop at The Fine Artists Factory in Pasadena and is a working fashion designer, creating a collection of special occasion “artwear” clothing and accessories.  She continues to work as a free-lance illustrator for accounts such as Sony Pictures.

Justine has worked for over 30 years in the fashion industry as a fashion illustrator, art director, educator and designer.  She spent the majority of her academic years at Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, completing her BFA in Painting and Drawing at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.   She created the Fashion Dept. at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and served as its first Dept. Chair.  She was Art Director of newspaper advertising for Liberty House of California and a free-lance fashion illustrator for numerous department stores and boutiques in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the illustrator of “Color with Style” and author/illustrator of her own textbook “Drawing the Fashion Body”. She has taught fashion drawing at Pasadena City College, Mt San Antonio College, and Fullerton College.  She is on 3 Los Angeles Fashion Advisory Councils: CSULA, PCC, MT SAC.

Justine will demonstrate from a live model using pastel, watercolor and mixed media.  Her emphasis will be on creating dynamic drawings in a bold, quick style.  To show how she works, she will also bring music and discuss how different kinds of music drive the style and mood of the drawing.  In addition to teaching this method at The Fine Artist Factory, Justine is also a regular member of The Drawing Club in Glendale, an open drawing group which focuses on storytelling through drawing, with a different theme each week, theatrical set, lighting and 3 hour musical score.
