Donal Jolley
paints in watercolor, acrylic, and oil. He graduated from Brigham Young
University and worked for twelve years as an illustrator before leaving the
Aerospace Corporation to paint full time in 1971. Born in Zion National
Park, Utah, he lived in Boulder City and Carson City, Nevada, before moving
to California in 1960.
Donal is a member of the National Watercolor Society,
Watercolor West, and the American Indian and Cowboy Artists (AICA). He has
been featured in Southwest Art Magazine, Samuel's Contemporary Western
Artists, Who's Who in American Art, Camera Life, Inland Empire Magazine and
others. His work is in the collections of the Church Museum of History and
Art in Salt Lake City, The Smithsonian, and the San Bernardino County
Museum. Examples of his work are included in books such as
Understanding Transparent Watercolor by Gerald F. Brommer and
The Best of Watercolor by Betty Lou Schlemm and Tom Nicholas.
Some of Jolley's annual shows are: The Annual AICA
Show, the Peppertree Ranch Show and the Festival of Western Art in San Dimas,
California. He has won Gold and Bronze medals, Best of Show, and the Eagle
Feather Award from AICA shows as well as many awards from other national art
competitions. His paintings have been reproduced as posters for the
Conservation Law Enforcement Association in Prescott, Arizona, and for
several years he was a contributor of cartoons for Rod & Custom and Car
Craft Magazines.
Donal's home and studio are in the town of Rimforest,
6000 feet high in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California.
