Richard Martinez
is an artist who was
born and raised in Claremont, California. Throughout his 30-year career,
Richard has received many awards for his paintings. Among them, a
scholarship from Millard Sheets to attend the Art Center in Hollywood,
two Gold Key Southern California Awards, a Higgins Inc. National Award,
and a full scholarship to attend Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles.
He also studied abroad as an exchange student in Guanajuato, Mexico.
He expanded his art education by studying under Richard Wright, Robert
Wood and Milford Zornes.
His educational
background includes Chouinard Art Institute, the L.A. County Art
Institute, and Cal State L.A. where he received his Bachelor's Degree.
He obtained his masters degree in Art from Claremont Graduate School in
1972. Richard has had many one man art shows in Southern
California. He has also participated in many group art shows.
Recently he was shown in the Manzanar exhibition of watercolors from
Henry Fukuhara workshop.
He was in Watercolor West 2003 juried art show. He is also a
member of the National Watercolor Society.
