MARCH EXHIBITING
ARTIST

For over thirty years, Glenda Hooker's
miniatures and vignettes have been regarded the finest of their type in the
world of collectibles; each piece is a one-of-a-kind hand sculptured work of
art. Glenda captures the life and script of her subjects. With
realistic detail, she brings a lump of clay to life. this form of life
is transformed into a rubber mold and then into a resin figure. The
figures are clothed in the finest hand sewn fabrics.
Glenda,
who has no formal art training, specializes in sculpturing miniature people
of African descent but does not limit herself to one genre alone. The
dolls, which are one inch scale, are one-of-a-kind lifelike mirror images of
people we all seem to know. the bodies, which are built on a wire
armature, are flexible and posable, adding to the realistic scenarios she is
able to create. Her exhibits are always multiracial and multicultural.
Because of her passion for realism and eye for detail, each piece seems to
take on a life and personality of its own.
Her
work has been on display at shows across the United States and Europe.
Local, national and international publications, including The Los Angeles
Times, The Smithsonian African American Art Newsletter, and the
International Doll Magazine, have featured her work. A large
collection of her work was purchased by the Museum of Miniatures in Los
Angeles.
Glenda gives honor to God for the talents He has blessed her with and is
thankful for the many people who appreciate her art.
